Downtown Phoenix is a fun pocket of the valley and has a lot of great dinner options. Everything from sushi to Mexican to late night spots, downtown has something for everyone.
Hereβs a short list of the ones we frequent the most π
BLUE HOUND HARUMI SUSHI & SAKI
Harumi Sushi & Saki
Harumi is actually rated one of the top sushi spots in Arizona, and for good reason! Everything is SO tasty. Some of our favorite rolls are the Finding Nemo, Over the Rainbow, Caterpillar, Oh My God (yes that’s the real name) and Spider – all delicious! Every roll comes with their famous purple rice. It doesn’t taste any different, but it’s another fun touch.
It’s located right off the light rail so you don’t have to worry about parking if you take public transportation. They don’t take reservations and it’s super popular so expect a little wait if you decide to go on the weekends. Totally worth the wait if you ask me π
Hanny’s
Hanny’s is very chic, very vibey and is our go-to late night spot. The dimmed lights give it a posh and modern date night feel. I’m not a martini girl, but my husband loves them and this is one of his favorite places to get one in downtown.
The restaurant lives in the heart of downtown on the corner of 1st Street and Adams. The building actually used to be a department store called Hanny’s!
I know this is a weird thing to say, but make sure to visit the bathroom upstairs when you’re there… you’ll see why π
Blanco Tacos & Tequila
If you love Mexican food as much as I do, you’ll loooooove Blanco. Everything on the menu is amazing, but our favorites are the warm queso (get it with ground beef!), mahi and carnitas tacos, and fajitas. Their skinny margarita is also a must-try!
The location in downtown Phoenix is fairly new and is SUPER cute. The interior is decked out with modern art and plants. It’s a great atmosphere for happy hour with friends π
Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails
Blue Hound is a fun date night spot in CityScape. The sleek and modern interior pairs well with their new American menu and wine selection. We like to split a few starters when we go. Some of our favorites are the warm crab dip, lobster mac and cheese (my personal favorite!), roasted brussel sprouts and meat and cheese board!
Chico Malo
Last but not least is Chico Malo, a stylish, upscale Mexican restaurant located in CityScape. The menu has a variety of elevated plates, but our favorites are the shrimp ceviche, pozole, carne asada asadero and enchiladas rojas!
It’s a lively date night spot and fun atmosphere in the heart of downtown.
