Weekend Getaway to Loreto, Mexico

When people think of vacationing in Baja California, most probably think of Los Cabos, La Paz or maybe even Ensenada. Which don’t get me wrong, those places are certainly beautiful! But if you’re anything like me, you appreciate the underrated spots just as much as the touristy ones. That’s where Loreto comes in 🙂

Aside from its natural beauty that boasts incredible mountains, islands and marine life, Loreto offers visitors a less-touristy, authentic Mexico experience. This charming town is located north of La Paz and is the perfect hotspot for the adventure-seeking, outdoorsy type of traveler.

Before breaking down the details of our latest adventure down there, you can watch my vlog for a look at how our weekend getaway went.

WHERE WE STAYED

Waicuri, Marina Puerto Escondido

Whenever we’re in Loreto, we stay at a private home in one of the newest waterfront developments in Baja: Waicuri at Marina Puerto Escondido! The marina is located just south of downtown Loreto and is an easy drive from the airport. From the marina, you have easy access to Loreto’s outdoor activities, including scuba diving, hiking, fishing, paddle boarding, sunset cruises and so much more!

WHERE WE ATE

La Brisa, Marina Puerto Escondido

This is the marina’s pizzeria and it’s GREAT! The menu features a variety of fun cocktails, fresh seafood dishes and pizza of course 😉 . La Brisa offers guests a casual, friendly environment with beautiful waterfront views overlooking the marina.

Private Island Picnic, Isla Monserrate

This is probably my favorite thing to do in Loreto. A fresh seafood picnic on a private island? Yes please! These picnics (courtesy of Outpost Charters) offer guests a true Loretano experience, so I HIGHLY recommend if you’re in town 🙂

WHAT WE TOURED

I’ll let my video below do most of the talking for this one – enjoy!

Beautiful, right?!
